All our Phoenix Flight Gear frames are 3K twill weave carbon fiber. We DO NOT USE low quality fiberglass composite sandwiched between 2 THIN LAYERS of carbon fiber!
Phoenix Flight Gear has
designed a great new Acro / FPV frame. The Flight Ring 242, a single
piece carbon fiber frame designed for speed and efficiency for acrobatic
flight and light FPV.
The single piece frame design has many
benefits for both the build and flight. No frame assembly required! CNC
cut from 1.5mm carbon fiber, the Flight Ring frame has; common 12-14mm
slotted motor mounts, indicators for CG balancing, strap slots for
securing your battery and gear, NAZA-M locators, slotted flight
controller mounting for flight controllers mounting on a 30 to 45mm
square, motor wire routing, optional accessory plate and optional
landing gear. We have spent countless hours designing and test flying to
ensure that this design is easy to build, easy to fly, and durable for
you acro pilots, and most importantly, fun to fly for the novice and
experienced.
We spent lot of time on
the development of the new ring design. Aside from the load
distribution and benefits in a crash situation we put some function
into the frame design as well. We incorporated a wide center section
that runs from the front to the rear of the frame allowing you to mount
just about anything that you want to carry. With the center section
running front to rear you can hard mount your GoPro or other FPV camera
up front without props in the shot. Your video downlink can mount onto
the rear away from your electronics and mount your battery in-between to
balance your center of gravity.
The ring design has
many benefits for the acro pilot. The arms are all joined together
distributing the load across the frame. By joining the arms there is a
great improvement in rigidity and strength. This allows for a reduction
in arm flex and, provides protection against damage in a crash with the
stress distributed around the entire frame. In the event of an arm first
crash the frame will have a tendency to roll out the crash instead of
spearing into the ground and snapping an arm or damaging a motor.
Weighing in at less
than 45 grams it is lightest frame PFG has to offer. The single piece
1.5mm thin frame minimizes the airframes wind resistance providing high
efficiency in flight. The choice of carbon fiber as the frame material
was an easy one; carbon fiber is lighter, thinner and more rigid than
glass fiber alternatives such as G10. With this highly efficient super
light carbon fiber frame you can enjoy flights over 15 min.
Also available for
purchase is an optional accessory mounting plate. It will attach to the
frame with a few included standoffs and screws allowing you to mount
additional electronics or cover the FC system and radio system giving a
finished, classy look. The accessory mounting plate also stacks,
allowing you to mount a second plate over the first if needed, just
order a second accessory plate. A plate can be mounting to the under
side of the frame if desired to create a battery shelf or mount a FPV
transmitter. Optional landing gear is also available for purchase, short
30mm landing gear for general use and tall 60mm landing gear that will
allow enough clearance below your frame for a hard mounted GoPro camera.
